We’ve been receiving questions regarding dues payment processing. To clarify how it works, please read the following. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact Executive Director Dr. Chuck Walter.
Through what avenues does WSOMS receive dues payments?
We receive dues by snail mail, phone, fax, and electronic submission. Some members pay via their state organizations and others join directly through the WSOMS website. We also take cash payments during WSOMS functions such as annual meetings.
Will I receive a confirmation letter or email?
If you use the electronic form from the WSOMS website then you’ll receive a response (right after you click SUBMIT) stating that your information has been successfully transferred. If you use any other means of paying, you will NOT receive an email confirmation.
Do I receive any form of written receipt?
Your receipt is your cancelled check or bank statement withdrawal. We do not provide receipts unless you are paying in cash at a WSOMS event. If you require a personalized written receipt from WSOMS, please ask for one.
When is my payment actually deposited?
We do not use an automated deposit service. All payments, regardless of origin, are processed manually by the WSOMS Executive Director. He tries to deposit payments the same day they arrive, however, it may take longer depending on his schedule. If you don’t see the bank withdrawal right away, give us a few days. If you’re still worried, then do contact us to resolve the situation.
Why don’t you automate deposits?
There are four reasons we do it manually.
- With such a small membership base, handling the money directly is less complex and more economical.
- The Executive Director is better able to keep in touch with the names and identities of members as they join or renew.
- Many members still renew by snail mail. There is no way to automate a snail mail payment.
- Many members pay WSOMS in conjunction with their state dues. The state Executive Director must then combine all WSOMS fees into a single check and mail it to us via US Mail.
Do you keep a record of my payment information?
Your privacy is extremely important. Therefore, once a payment is processed, all financial information is removed entirely from our system. We don’t keep any digital or hardcopy bank information or credit card numbers.
