Trustee Report

W. Frederick Stephens, Division VI trusutee at WSOMS.

Greetings from your AAOMS District VI Trustee: June 2025

Well, summer is here! I wish you a very productive summer season but also hope you a chance to get out of the office and relax a bit.

I am well past the half-way point of my 4th year as your AAOMS District VI Trustee. I continue to be humbled and extremely grateful for the confidence you all have shown by electing me to this important position, through your State Delegates. If later this year, our District VI Delegates, once again provide me with the opportunity to serve, I will continue to represent you at the AAOMS Board level as your Trustee for another final two years, to the best of my ability.

The AAOMS has so far had a very productive 2025, with president Dr. J. David Morrison at the helm. Gleaning from his years as a private practitioner and his experience on The Board, Dr. Morrison has been representing the AAOMS membership with skill, wisdom, and great insight. Together, with our highly qualified Board of Trustee’s and our senior management team, the AAOMS is strong and remains a highly recognized and respected entity in healthcare.

The “new and improved” WSOMSis an important regional component of the AAOMS. The Western Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons supports all the Western States through advocacy, especially those with fewer members and therefore, lesser representation. Our “collective Western voices” are extremely important and as a result, our exceptional state and regional leadership contributes greatly to our specialties governance and is ... recognized by the AAOMS. Therefore, your support through membership is very important. Fifty dollars per year is a bargain for such representation! Please be a WSOMS member!

Reviewing the remaining AAOMS 2025 educational schedule, there are several important opportunities for learning and participation in our specialty. I have listed a few of the highlights below. More details can be obtained through aaoms.org.

*Of Special Note: I hope you will be able to attend our 107th Annual Meeting and Scientific Session September 15-20, in Washington DC. This will prove to be a very rewarding meeting, offering great opportunities for CE and networking in a great location, which offers many opportunities to see and experience the diverse and historical attractions of our federal capitol.

Finally, if you are pondering expanding your professional experience by entering a leadership role in your state or at the national level, please give your state societies’ Executive Director, the AAOMS ... or me a call. We are always looking for new people with new perspectives to carry our specialty into the future. Engagement in a leadership role can benefit your practice and can be a very rewarding experience!

Also, please remember ... as your Trustee, I am your portal of communication to the AAOMS - your specialties national association. Please utilize me! You can contact me via E-mail at dr.wfstephens@gmail.com or if urgent, call me at (626) 353-4575.

Again, thank you for your continuing confidence and support.
